About Colleen
Colleen Nolan is a Catholic author, speaker, and founder of YHWH Breath Meditation, a Christ-centered meditation practice that brings together breath, stillness, Scripture, and prayer. Her work explores how Christian contemplative tradition, psychology, neuroscience, and the science of breathing can support deeper prayer, emotional peace, and an embodied awareness of God’s presence.
Her work grew from a deeply personal search for a way to experience the proven calming benefits of breath and meditation without separating those practices from her Christian faith. That search led her into extensive study of Christian contemplative tradition, breath prayer, psychology, and nervous-system regulation, and ultimately to the development of YHWH Breath Meditation.
With a professional background in change leadership, systems thinking, and translating complex ideas into practical application, Colleen brings both structure and accessibility to a subject many Christians approach with uncertainty. Through her writing, speaking, guided meditations, and devotional resources, she helps Christians discover a form of meditation that remains rooted in Scripture, centered on Christ, and lived through the whole person.
My Story
I’m not a monk or a mystic.
I’m a corporate consultant, an actor, a creative, and a woman who spent years searching for peace while living with chronic illness, ADHD, trauma, and still having to work, create, and keep life moving through it all.
Along the way, I discovered that practices like meditation, mindfulness, and breathwork could genuinely help calm my body and mind. But spiritually, something was missing. Too often, the places offering those tools asked me to enter traditions that were not my own. I wanted the peace without leaving Christ behind.
That question became deeply personal: Why should Christians have to look outside our faith for practices that help us become still, attentive, and present?
So I began studying.
I explored Scripture, Christian contemplative tradition, the Desert Fathers and Mothers, saints and mystics, the history of breath prayer, psychology, neuroscience, nervous-system regulation, and the science of breathing. What I found was not an absence of Christian meditation, but a rich tradition many of us had simply never been taught.
At the center of that journey was the sacred Name of God, YHWH, and the striking reflection that the sound of human breath resembles the Name itself:
Yeh on the inhale.
Weh on the exhale.
From that foundation, YHWH Breath Meditation began to take shape as a structured, Christ-centered practice bringing together breath, Scripture, reflection, stillness, attention, and prayer.
What began as a personal search for a way to calm my body without compromising my faith became something much larger: a way of helping other Christians discover that meditation, breath, and stillness can belong fully within a life centered on God.
Today, that work is growing through writing, speaking, guided meditation, and resources including One Breath Away from Peace, its companion journal, the upcoming 7-Day YHWH Breath Meditation Challenge, and future courses designed to help Christians develop a deeper, more embodied prayer life.
Outside of this work, I continue my career in senior-level consulting, act in television and commercial projects, take improv classes whenever I can, and spend a great deal of time with my dog, Arrow Joseph, who remains one of the finest listeners I know.
I believe our bodies were created to participate in prayer.
Sometimes the way back to stillness begins with something we have been doing since the moment we were born.
One breath.
